I have been with the NAA for a long time now and rarely ask for help like this.
This time is different. At least two of us who fly Aeronca's were based there, myself for over 10 years, and Tony Markl probably longer.
Tempelhof Central Airport, where the Berlin Airlift was based right after WW2 is going to be closed. We have tried for many years to keep it open but the govt will not listen. Ok, so it will not be an airport any longer. We could live with that.
Now the govt is making noises about turning it over to the real estate jokers, who would carve it up into housing and office complex's. We would at least like to save it as a piece of history that it is.
Anyone could could take a minute and sign this petition, would really appreciate it. The petition is in English and German, so no problems understanding it. The URL that takes you to the petition is below.
Thanks,
Joe A

Thanks for the help guys. This was a US Air Force base for many years after the war, then turned over to the Germans in 1992 after the Berlin Wall fell. I was there from 1987 on and helped close the base down. After that flew a medivac airplane there for many years.
It deserves to be saved, if for nothing else to remind the Commies that we will do anything to keep people in this world free. Otherwise its also a very neat old airport!
