Life in Muenster Osnabruck, or Bad Laer where we actually lived, was quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately too quiet for my wife, who grew up in Berlin and was used to the large city.
While here I did some freelance flying, both for Aero-Dienst in Nuermburg on a Lear 35 as well as Aero-Continental, a German charter operator flying a Lear 55. The Lear 55 above is shown in Munich, on our last flight before the company stopped business.
The man in white on the right is Bernd Wilmes, the chief pilot. Very nice guy and now flying for Hapag Lloyd out of Hannover. Another very good friend of mine is the chief pilot for HL, Detlev Schmalsteig. We flew parachute airplanes together at Meissendorf, just outside of Hannover.
Lived here for just over a year when I was hired by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft to fly for them in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
